- Administration Strategy Review
- The completion of an administration strategy review at
one of the top four clearing banks. This included a
review of current unit trust and PEP strategy and an
assessment of current administration arrangements.
Prepared an invitation to tender and prepared business
specifications of all unique processing. Carried out a
comprehensive assessment of all options for processing
unit trusts, PEPs and ISAs, including build, packages and
TPAs. Carried out a detailed review and assessment of the
shortlisted packages and TPAs. Conducted negotiations
with the candidates. Prepared comprehensive report on
schedule which was accepted by the Board.

- System Selection and Implementation
- Selections and implementation of the RUFUS unit trust
administration system for one of the top ten unit trust
companies. This work included the preparation of a
selection report including costs, timescales, unique
requirements and interfaces to corporate systems. Managed
preparation of Gap Analysis, project plans, software
implementation, development of client, agent, commission,
cash and general ledger interfaces. Managed the Model
Office, including all software and user acceptance
testing. Managed development, testing and operation of
conversion from existing systems to RUFUS. Prepared plans
for conversion of unit trusts to OEICs and implementation
of ISAs.

- System Reviews
- The presentation to major unit trust companies of a
review of all systems capable of supporting unit trusts,
OEICs, ISAs and PEPs.

- OEIC Conversion
- Project managed conversion of Friends Provident unit
trusts to OEICs

- Transfer to TPA
- Managed the transfer from in-house system to third party
administration (IFDS) at ISIS. This included building a
complex set of transfer files and ensuring all data was
fully reconciled.

- Gap Analysis
- A gap analysis of the LISA system identifying in detail
the gaps with standard UK and company specific unit trust
and OEIC administration functionality.

- UK Customisation
- The completion of a comprehensive gap analysis and
business specifications for an overseas supplier
launching a unit trust, OEIC, PEP and ISA administration
package in the UK market.

- Training
- Trainer in unit trust administration and OEIC
administration for the Securities Institute. This
includes running 2 day courses leading up to the
Investment Administration Qualification for up to 30
attendees, plus preparing and running customised courses
on client premises.

- Unit Trust Company Launch
- The project management of the launch of a new unit trust
company by a Building Society. This involved the
development of business plans and project planning and
then managing the evaluation of the unit trust Third
Party Administrator, Investment Manager and
Trustee/Custodian, including the preparation of
Invitations to Tenders. Produced selection report which
was accepted by the Board. Managed the relationship with
the third parties (EFDS, Citicorp and Gartmore),
including the negotiation and drafting of contracts and
service standards. Managed the setting up of the in-house
operation including training of staff, specification and
implementation of bespoke software, development of
processes and procedures and user acceptance testing.
Unit Trust and PEP operations were successfully launched
on schedule and budget.
